Los Angeles- The Most Stressed Out City?

According to Realtor.com, Los Angeles is the #1 stressed out city in America. It’s not surprising considering the commute in traffic most people make to work, the congested amount of people in one place, the awful air pollution and the high cost of living. It certainly isn’t for everyone! Here are eight helpful tips we’ve found to de-stress.

1) Exercise! Here at The Parsons Team we love to workout. Whether that be Crossfit Resistance, Equinox, Yogaworks, Breakthru Fitness… Work and life can gets busy, but scheduling time to workout is so beneficial. Think of all those endorphines your body will be receiving.

2) Quiet time. Even if it’s just a few minutes a day, take time to be alone and think, pray, meditate… it’s amazing what a few focused, undisturbed minutes can do.

3) Coffee! Scientists have been debating it for years, does it really alleviate stress?!? We’d like to think it does! Currently we’re obsessed with Phillz. Brian’s order? A hot Filtered Soul, Phillz way. Can you tell we go too often? If you’re not much of a coffee person, then calming herbal tea is another great option to reduce stress.

4) Deep breathing- Here’s a great article discussing several deep breathing exercises. Check it out! It’s worth a read. healthland.time.com

5) Essential Oils– Aromatherapy that can soothe, relax, improve mood, and reduce anxiety. Count us in!

6) Get outdoors! Breathe in the crisp fall air or go for a hike. Ever heard of the word “earthing” also known as grounding? Earthing refers to “contact with the Earth’s surface electrons by walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems, some of them patented, that transfer the energy from the ground into the body.” According to studies, it can alleviate stress! Maybe those hipsters walking around barefoot have a point!

7) Snack on broccoli, nuts, blueberries or our personal favorite, dark chocolate! Certain foods can boost your mood and help you relax.

8) Wine! The day’s over and it’s time to unwind. Enjoy a glass! You deserve it.

Best,

The Parsons Team
