Storybook Style Homes

Our listing manager, Andrea, looking adorable at our Storybook style home coming soon in San Marino!

Popularized during the 1920s-1930s, Storybook style homes popped up around England and the United States. Whimsical in nature, they appeared right out of a Hansel and Gretel story. It’s said that Walt Disney may have been inspired by these homes. A few blocks from Walt Disney’s original studios, were eight storybook cottages, the perfect setting for Snow White and her seven dwarfs. (www.atlasobscura.com)

A great example of Storybook, may be the Spadena House, otherwise known as the Witch’s House. Located among mansions in Beverly Hills, many residents saw the unique home as an eyesore and wanted it torn down. When it came on the market, the owner was very cautious about who could tour the home and ignored any buyer she felt may tear it down. Realtor Michael Libow, bought the home and remolded it beautifully. A popular place on Halloween night, Libow says he gets between 2,000-3,000 trick-or-treaters within a few hours! Take a sneak peak here! www.lamag.com
